Mission

To raise oral health awareness and deliver basic oral health promotion in Tower Hamlets.

What They Do

Oral health awareness & promotion in schools and community settings

Oral health promotion leaflets for hospitals and community centres

Teddy Bear Hospital

Mission

Educate young children about healthy habits and reduce their fear of doctors and dentists

What They Do

Weekly Primary School Clinics: Interactive stations in local primary schools.

Teddy Bear check-ups: Teaching them about health and easing their fears of dentists.

Monthly Hospital Sessions: Monthly drop-in sessions held at the Royal London Hospital.

Annual Safety Day

Student Assisted Medical and Dental Applications (SAMDA)

Mission

Widen access to medical and dental careers for state school students by providing support and guidance throughout the application process.

What They Do

Buddy Scheme: QM students mentor sixth formers on careers, personal statements, UCAS & interviews.

Medical Skills Day: Prepares students for UCAT/BMAT, personal statements, interviews, & hands-on clinical skills practice.

Mock Interviews: Offers practice interviews (MMIs and panels)

Clinicians’ Evening: Talks from admissions tutors, clinicians, and students.

Outside of QM

DentAid BrightBites

Mission

Provide fun and interactive oral health education to school-age children.

What They Do

Visits: Schools, holiday clubs, and childcare organisations.

Fun & Interactive talks on: Toothbrushing techniques, tooth names/anatomy, sugar awareness and the importance of dental check-ups

Dental Mentor

Mission

Provides support to dentists and dental students facing challenging circumstances

(Official partnership with the British Dental Association (BDA) Benevolent Fund)

What They Do

Fundraising: Engage in fundraising efforts aimed at supporting dentists and dental students facing challenging circumstances.

What they offer: Financial assistance, return to work support, mental health support and guidance during times of crisis

iSmile (Operation Smile)

Mission

Nurtures a global community whose contributions to our cause ensure healthcare equity for all.

What They Do

Rally their community to support Operation Smile: Organise fundraisers, service projects, donation drives, and awareness campaigns.

Attend Leadership Conferences: ISLC and LEA to develop leadership skills.

Join regional leadership council: Plan larger Operation Smile initiatives with peers.

International Medical Programs: UG students serve as journalists who capture interviews and multimedia from the program.
